Ayurveda – meanings and uses

Ayurveda comes from the Sanskrit language, and etymologically means "science of life" (ayus-life, veda-science, knowledge). Its beginnings are considered 5000 years ago, in India. It is the oldest medical system in the world, with uses as varied as: discovering the physical, psychological and emotional characteristics of each human being, relating it to the Universe of which it is a part, as well as understanding the most effective means of harmonizing them, on their path to evolution on all levels.
Ayurveda believes that there is a close connection between the soul, mind and body of a human being, their harmonization leading to a state of well-being, living life to the fullest, with wisdom, as well as to a good and constant state of health. In this sense, Ayurveda is part of the group of holistic therapies, which considers that Man is a microcosm, which must be permanently aligned with the Macrocosm from which he was created.

The first stage of this very complex discipline is determining the constitutional typology (physical, dynamic and psychomental) of the person who seeks its help. According to Ayurveda, there are three constitutional types, each of which has specific characteristics: Kapha, Pitta and Vata. They are, in fact, a combination of different known subtle elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Ether. Their combination so different determines the constitutional type of a human being. The important thing is to find ourselves and then maintain the necessary state of harmony in everyday life.

The methods used include: Ayurvedic massage, for overall relaxation of the being, or for improving health problems, melotherapy (music with beneficial energy, necessary for emotional balance, well-being), aromatherapy, i.e. the use of essential oils to induce a state of energetic harmony, chromotherapy, etc.
Ayurvedic therapies are gentle, non-invasive, and act according to the particular aspects of human beings, depending on their predominance.
Currently, they are used on an increasingly wide scale throughout the world, for their beneficial results on all levels of being.
