Oriental dance is an ancestral art form used to express and celebrate the beauty of life and its creation (the feminine and the masculine). Houriya offers to explore the feminine side of oriental dance. The connection to our heart center will be a first step to enter the dance. By connecting to the rhythms and the music, the energy is refined within and around the dancer, the body is grounded. Confidence, joy, and love are shining.
This dance class offers both dance techniques and understanding of the rhythms. The student will be guided to improvise and shine with the main oriental moves: the figure eight patterns (the symbol of the infinite), shimmies, accents, circles, and undulations. Step by step, the dancer will develop the technique to dance with elegance on classical Arabic music repertoire (Oum Kalthoum, Warda, Abdelhalim El Hafez, etc.), with juicy hips on the traditional Cairo ballads and with craziness on some modern Egyptian songs that hit the nightlife.
Oriental dance class has a positive impact on our mental health and body image, on our digestive system and our autonomous nervous system. Your muscular tone, your flexibility, and your proprioception (body position awareness) will be developed.
